Join us for a weekend men's retreat, with Gerard Charles teaching three sessions on a biblical theology of prayer. We want to explore what it means to enjoy a continually developing prayer life, rooted in an understanding of why we pray, how we pray and what we should pray for, according to the whole Scripture.
Session One, 'Calling on the Name of the LORD', will focus on the Old Testament; Session Two, 'Praying in the Name of Jesus', will look at the Gospels; and Session Three, 'Praying in the Spirit', will come out of the Epistles.
Alongside the three main sessions, we'll enjoy meals together and plenty of space for catch-ups, downtime, discussion, walks, the pub, and prayer.
Originally from Lancashire, Gerard studied theology in Glasgow after a 10-year career in private forest management in Scotland. After his studies, he and his wife Sarah and their two children spent 10 years church planting among Muslims in East Asia. He completed his PhD in Islamic identity at Durham in 2017, and currently works in Yorkshire as the North England Representative for OMF International. He teaches in several theological colleges, and worships in the Elim church in Huddersfield. A passionate supporter of the Red Rose and the Red-side of Manchester, he loves cricket, rugby and hill-walking.
Join us for the weekend. Come to escape from life, but come to find it, too.
