Doorkeeper Apprenticeship

Join our team this summer!

An opportunity for university students and recent graduates who are followers of Jesus. Join our team this summer, spend dedicated time engaging with God, take on skill-specific projects, and experience life and Christian ministry in the Yorkshire Dales.

A useful break

The Doorkeeper Apprenticeship offers Christian students an opportunity to take a break from university life in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Give time to intimacy with the Lord, gain work experience and help run a Christian residential centre.

Doorkeepers will contribute to our daily rhythm of prayer, help to run the centre and participate in rural church and ministry opportunities.

Doorkeepers would be supervised and mentored by Seb or Rachael Rab.

Seb and Rachael met at York City Church and led the church's student work for 2 years. They got married in 2022 and were appointed as CEO and Operations Manager of the Jonas Centre. Currently living in Reeth, they attend Reeth Evangelical Congregational Church, and have a little boy called Ellis.

Rachael has a heart for those on the margins and is gifted in prayer and prophetic ministry. After graduating from University of York she interned with York City Church before working with York Drug and Alcohol Services, and then for the charity Changing Lives. Rachael is on maternity leave from her role as Operations Manager at the Jonas Centre.

Seb completed UCCF:thechristianunions' Relay internship in 2013 and worked with a NewFrontiers church for two years. He returned to UCCF as Staff Worker in York, and supervised 4 Relay Workers over 3 years, also helping to run the Relay conferences. After UCCF, Seb joined the staff team at St Barnabas, Middlesbrough in 2020, and the Jonas centre in 2022. He has an MA in Theology and Ministry from Cranmer Hall, St John's College, Durham.

‘Better is one day in your courts
    than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
    than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
    the Lord bestows favour and honour.’

— Psalm 84:10-11
